Instructors programme CALM Physical intervention and escape technique programmes can be taught in house by staff who have completed the train the trainers programme. This offers agencies a crucial source of expertise on aggression management. Agency strategies on aggression management often break down due to problems of support and difficulties in implementing policy and training strategies. Consequently, in addition to the development of physical competence, the Instructor programme places emphasis on helping participants to develop an understanding of the legal perspectives on restraint, and how to assist their employing agencies to effectively implement and sustain in house training programmes. Accredited Instructors can provide an important resource for managers and staff in agencies delivering services to challenging service users. CALM Training Services will attempt to keep Instructors informed of emergent practice, legal and social policy developments.
