Corporate Stress Management

Stress is now recognised by the Health and Safety Executive as the major cause of ill health in the workplace, which the growing body of literature and research on the subject would confirm. Prolonged exposure to excessive levels of stress can have a detrimental effect on organisations if it is not dealt with effectively.

It is no longer enough to focus on the individual coping skills of employees. A "quick fix" offer of a massage, an aromatherapy session to staff or even a few counselling sessions for burned out staff will not combat the insidious effects of corporate stress. In fact, the research would indicate that this approach is ineffective and possibly unhelpful.

Under existing Health and Safety legislation, it is a legal requirement that employers take action to deal with stress experienced by employees within their organisation. It is not only the physical safety of employees that needs to be addressed but also their psychological well being.

CALM Training Services are now offering a 2 Day course on the management of organisational stress. Based on the CALM "whole organisation" approach, this course offers organisations and their managers and workers an effective way forward in the management of stress at work. The course aims to assist participants to identify the prime sources of personal stress within their work experience, and to equip managers and staff with a range of personal and organisational strategies to address these in a pro active and constructive manner.

The course tutor, Tom Higgins, is a qualified Corporate Stress Management consultant with over 25 years experience in the human services and management.
